AUTHOR'S POV

In a small town where rivers flow on the both sides , nature surrounded it as a cloth , in a city free of chaos was where she was born . MIRPUR was a small town where Rivita lived in a small 3 story house of which upper two portions were rented because that's how a middle class family survives ....... In the ground floor lived Rivita her mother (Neha) , father (Ravish) ,brother (Abhiraj) well most of the time it was her mother and father only  , Rivita and Abhiraj were mostly in there hostels for study......... so three rooms a dining area a sitting area and a little garden outside was sufficient for the family of four . It was a family of five a year back but Rivita's grandfather died because of very old age . Rivita loved him the most so it was her who was the most disheatened by his demise but well life goes on and you have to get accustomed to it .........

When Mr Ravish got a call from Mr Vivek he immeadiately got up and called his son " Abhi go outside they are here go fetch them from outside the street "

Abhi went and there stood a AUDI A4 outside of the street  , he waved his hand to indicate them and Vihan came out from the passenger seat to greet Abhi they shook hands and abhi told him " hello , our house is the last one in the end of this street so you guyz would have to park the here and walk a little because if the car goes inside it would be hard to turn it around "

Vihaan agreed with a warm smile and told the driver to do the same , after parking all the family members came out Abhiraj touched Mr Vivek's and Urmila's feet and they blessed him , he took a glance at Evan and said a simple hello by nodding his head to which Evan replied robotically without any expression .

That left Abhi a little in doubt , afterall he was here to see his sister right so why he seem this disintrested ........ Abhi was not that loving of a brother but he definitely was a caring one he may not be good with sweet and sugary words but he was always there for Rivita when she needed him whether it was going against the family or understanding modern days lifestyle Rivita and Abhi always supported each other .

After a little walk of just 100m together they reached Rivita,s home where her mother and father both welcomed them with a smile and took them inside . Their home was well organized with a modern infrastructure it was definitely nowhere around Mr Vivek's bungalow but had enough space for small gatherings .

After all of them settled in the living room Mrs Neha offered them some snacks and drinks while Mr Ravish asked them about their journey " you didn't had any problem reaching here right ?'' to which Mr Vivek replied with a smile " No no not at all , after landing we had already rented a car before to reach here so it was no hassle and when Evan is with us he manages it all so don't worry '' , "And bhaiya is so into making things perfect that he barely leave anything on any of us to handle especially me , because you know precision" Vihaan chimed in and everybody laughed at it and he earned a lil smack from his mother.

Vihan was basically a fun loving guy , soft hearted and gullible he easily mingled with the peoples he barely knew........... the exact opposite of evan . Vihan was a mamma's boy although he was 23 but by heart he was still a child who needed attention 24/7 exactly like Rivita . Mrs Urmila was also a chill lady she also belonged to a middle class family before marriage so she was humble in nature .

After a lil bit of formal talk Mr Vivek asked " where is Rivita ?" to which her mother replied "wait a minute I will get her ''. She went inside her room and there sat Rivita adorned in a simple pink anarkali suit , little jhumkas which she loved wearing hung on her ear peaking though the curtain of her long hairs which were left open . A small black bindi stuck exactly between her eyebrows enhancing her beauty a thousand times " Beta chalo , they are asking for you '' Mrs Neha said .

" How do I look mamma ? is it too much ? should I tie the hairs ? How should I take the duppatta? " to which Neha smiled " you look beautiful Beta now don't panic come lets go they are waiting ''. " I am not panicking Ma , just a little nervous that's all , afterall its my first time ", " It will be alright Beta don't worry you are a natural , and Mr Vivek already likes you a lot so don't worry about the others that much ". She nodded and left with her mother .

In the living room ....... Vihaan and Abhi was talkin to each other and Mr Vivek was having some conversation with Rivita's father while Evan was sitting quietly scrolling through his phone ...... honestly he has no interest in all this the only reason he was here is because of his father , he already have a plan in his mind – he would meet the girl tell her he didn't want to marry and she would be the one to deny this whole arrangement.

While Evan was busy thinking all this he heard sound of footsteps and looked up from his phone – there stood Rivita along with her mother greeting everyone with a warm smile and ohh her smile ...... with those two dimples forming in her cheeks made Evan's gaze stop only and only on her . He just looked at her while she greeted everybody and when theirs eyes met Rivita didn't look away .............instead she stared at him for few seconds actually she fully checked him out which made Evan smirk well he was not unknown of the effect he had on girls , after fully checking out Evan.... did only Rivita looked away .

Evan was stunned for a moment not because of Rivita...... to him she was an average looking girl he had seen women a lot prettier and beautiful than her but it was himself which he was shocked of , he didn't intend to look at her that longer he thought she would be shy , nervous , obedient but what took him offguard was that defiance in her eyes which didn't let him look away from her.

Mr Vivek made her sit along with him he asked her about her health and studies to which rivita replied in a word or two . After the convos of here and there Mr Vivek directly came to the point and said " Mr Ravish I like your daughter very much and my family as well , I think now we should let Evan and Rivita talk in private so that we can talk about the things we are actually here for ".Mrs Neha nodded and said " yes yes why not , Rivita beta take Evan to your room '' Rivita looked at Evan and said '' this way''.

Evan went along with Rivita she took him to her room which was just alongside the living room she left the door open and walked to the window at the end of her room which opened to the mini garden outside Evan followed her she looked back at Evan and politely said " have a seat please'' Evan nodded and sat on the couch alongside the window while Rivita took a seat on the bed .

After a minute of silence Rivita asked him with a very sweet voice " do you need anything , Water?". " No" Evan replied and kept mum for a minute more then said" see I will not beat around the bush and waste your time , I am not ready for this marriage I denied my father also but he was so persistent , I don't know what he saw in you but he has somehow made up his mind and I know for a fact that he would not listen to me , So please go and deny this arrangement to him you can say anything that you don't like me or I misbehaved but anyhow convince my father to end this".

When Evan met her gaze she was looking at him only with no expression at all , they both stared at each other.... for sometime no body said anything , when Evan was about to say something he saw some change of expressions in Rivita's face ....... And what he saw made him confused as hell .

Rivita was smiling .... She was shocked would be an understatement she was completely baffled to the point where she could not think anything else other than cruelity of her fate , the first guy she met for a marriage arrangement was saying such a thing even before knowing her . This made her question her worth for a while but she immediately pushed that thought away and chanted name of Shiv to calm herself.

Evan was about to stand up and leave when he heard Rivita's voice "do you take me as a fool" this took Evan off-guard he asked "what do you mean?". What I mean is "you want to make me the BAD one here while pretending to be the innocent one , you want me to face the aftermath of this rejection while being the victim in everyone's eyes and planning to escape from this , then listen to me Mr Evan Sehgal i have no desire to marry you either I was doing it for my family , they wanted me to meet you ; to get to know yow so I did exactly that . But after this I m not even interested in knowing you further. You can leave and I will say whatever I want to say to your family and even mine".

Evan just sat there frozen for a minute......; no one has ever dared to talk to him like that not even his own parents , he stared at her and realized that every girl he had met till day even the most beautiful ones had thrown themselves toward him and this girl here right infront of him not only disrespected him but also put allegations of playing the victim card and all this in a a span of 30 minutes .

He stood up and took two steps towards Rivita instictionally she walked a step back but Evan walked and stopped right infront of with his jaw clenched he muttered  in a calm , composed and lethal voice " You have no idea what you have done today but I will let it slide because I think you are actually a fool" and with that he left .

He entered the living room again and acted as everything went well and settled in his previous spot a little while later Rivita followed , everyone gave them a few glances and resumed with the talks , they had lunch together all this while Rivita acted all composed but inside she just wanted it all to end soon .

As the evening came to and end both the families bid goodbyes to each other Vihaan and Abhi exchanged their no's as they vibed a lot , Mr Vivek thanked Ravish for their hostality and told him that they would call soon , with that they took their leave .
